Boning Room Foreperson Luke knows that JBS Ipswich is a company that truly rewards its employees with limitless opportunities, chances to grow and progress, and the flexibility to put family first.
“This industry is very unique in the fact that you are rewarded for what you give,” Luke said.
“If you turn up every day and give it your all, those opportunities do come your way.
As a dad of young children, Luke said JBS’s flexible rosters and shifts is one of the major benefits that comes with working for the local Ipswich plant.
His grandfather and father both worked in the industry, and Luke says their flexible working hours meant they were always around for the important things in life, hence his decision to follow their career path.
“I’m a third-generation meatworker. My grandfather was in the industry for 30 plus years, and my dad is still in the industry. He’s been working here for over 25 years.
“What encouraged me to follow them into this line of work was the working lifestyle they had.
“They were always able to do stuff, starting early and finishing early, which meant they always had time for family and friends.
“Dad always had time to take me to footy games and training and those sorts of things really appealed to me, especially as I’ve got a young family myself,” Luke said.
As well as the flexibility when it comes to rosters and hours, Luke said there are plenty of other reasons why he loves working with JBS Ipswich, including the pride he feels when he sees JBS product in butchers or on restaurant menus.
“When you see our brand on the products … it’s a special feeling when you know you’ve been part of that.
He also said one of the best things about working for JBS is the people, and that no matter who you are, there’s plenty of opportunity for mateship and career growth.
“It doesn’t matter where you come from or what your background is, you’re welcome here,” Luke said.
